ABOUT AVD

AVD recreates legendary cars, and builds the ones clients ask for. It all happens in one workshop, 20 minutes from Spa-Francorchamps.

In practice that means 5 specialists and one set of workshops. Development, 3D engineering, chassis, aluminium bodywork, paint and final assembly all happen here, and only the upholstery is made outside.

Two kinds of car leave the building: the series we launch ourselves, and one-off commissions built to a single client’s brief.

The workshop grew out of a family garage that has been repairing and preparing cars for decades. That background still shows: these are machines meant to be driven, serviced and used.

AVD was created to take the work further and build complete cars. Today it runs across 4,000 square metres, with donor cars, a metal shop and a paint booth on site.

HISTORY

THE FAMILY GARAGE

It starts in a family garage, where cars were repaired, prepared and sent back out onto roads that punish them. That is where the habit of doing everything in-house comes from.

THE FIRST COMPLETE CARS

Björn Arens learned the trade in racing, servicing GT cars, two of which ran the 24 Hours of Spa. He came back to take over his father’s garage and opened it up to classics, sports cars and exotics. Then he founded AVD to go one step further and build complete cars, starting with an Austin Healey reshaped in aluminium for a client, and then the Porsche programme.

AVD REVIVAL

Stéphane Dauvister founded AVD Revival on that expertise, with one ambition: to bring the greatest cars of the century back into existence, drawn, engineered and built entirely in-house. The 250GTO Revival is the first of them.

OUR VISION

A vision combined with 20 years of expertise.

Cars like these were built by hand, in small numbers, by people who solved problems at the bench. We keep that method and add what the period never had: 3D engineering, measurement, and the ability to build the same car twice.

Björn Arens puts it simply: “For me, every car is special. The further into the project we get, the more we realise that every single part is unique.” That holds for a series of 10 and for a single client’s one-off alike. Machines good enough to be used, precise enough to be repeated, and kept running wherever in the world they end up.
